Week 1 - Summary
As I said, throughout the season I'll try to write up quick weekly summaries on each match. So I'll start with Division A.
Champi Brothers 243 - 220 High Definition 2
We start off with the first match played this season. High Definition 2 won the first gp of the war, but after that the former champions came back. They won GP3 by 19 and then had a solid GP3 to wrap up a win of 23. Roronoa, who just transferred back to CB after a season of absence MVP'd with 77, and a respectable 35 in GP3.
Wii Elite Clan 234 - 229 Killer Apps
Killer Apps returns to the competition after a season off, and they had a close war with Wii Elite Clan to welcome them back. WEC capitalized on a strong +20 GP1, and though KA made a run near the end of the war it was only enough to grab a bonus point. Coco MVP'd with 77 like Roronoa, and also had a strong GP3 of 32.
High Definition 238 - 215 Mushroom Road
High Definition has had relatively shaky week 1s in many leagues, but it seems that they're able to get away from Mushroom Road on week 1, like in Season 6. HD had a strong start for the first 2 GPs, but in the end of the war MR cut that margin down to 23, causing a tie for first in the standings. HD may be 2-0 against MR on Week 1 now, but they also lost to MR on week 6 back in Season 6, so maybe history will repeat. Rayze MVP'd the war with 75.
Charged Brigade 256 - 202 Hearts Brothers
Charged Brigade has a strong season opener this season, winning by a margin of 54 points. Each GP seemed pretty consistent, and Mike ended up with a score of 85. Hearts Brothers got decent scores across the board, but they just weren't enough to pull off the win this week.
Dynamite 242 - 216 Melee X
In one of the most highly anticipated matches of week 1, Dynamite shows their strength in a win over Melee X by 26. Despite Dynamite returning, they have almost a completely new lineup this season, and in that was Tia, who MVP'd with a 75. Melee X didn't lose by all too much however, and also had some impressive performances by Wouter & LsR.
-Airstrikers vs Galactic Riders rescheduled-
Rainbow of Karts 254 - 209 Axis
Rainbow of Karts put up an impressive performance against Axis to start off the season, ending in a +45 margin. Notable players in the war were Sliver & iitomk, but Sliver pulled away GP3 to get a pretty high score of 83. RK was actually losing going into the last GP, however a +47 GP3 allowed them to take home the win.
Charged Brigade 2 244 - 224 World Friend
Charged Brigade teams went 2-0 this week, and they had a strong performance as well with this team as well. After 2 big GPs, World Friend came back and made the margin much smaller. Wonder MVP'd by 1 point over Taylor, with a score of 69.
232 Water Army - 231 Ragna Rock
We have one of the closest matches in the history of the league in this classic Spain rivalry. This time, Water Army had a small comeback to barely pull off the win, and Luigeon MVP'd with an incredible score of 89. One thing about these teams is you never know who is going to win. With this match, Water Army improves their record to 5-3 against them in PL matches, going back to the Pink Stars era.
I hope you guys enjoyed this kind of topic. If you guys like the summaries I'll continue doing them for future weeks as well. Comments would be appreciated, but don't feel obligated to do so. Thanks for reading
