World Cup 2014 - Discussion
Hello to all the national teams out there. We would like to organize a final world cup before the launch of Mario Kart 8. Goal starting time is the weekend of week 10 for PL, so that gives about 3 weeks to prepare. If your country can prepare a team, please post here, and say whether or not 8v8 wars will be possible for you. Registration plans will most likely be simple enough as a team representative just registering the team themselves in one post. So ya, feel free to discuss. At minimum we need 6 teams, 8 would be ideal though.

UK should be able to play, and do 8v8's. I'll confirm soon.
Is it going to be simply one round of matches? Or is there a possibility of playoffs?

JPN can, I think. (I asked them about the 8v8 thing, have yet to hear back)

Italy can participate, I'll try to see if we are available to play 8vs8s.

How many registered players would a team need if this is 8v8?
Considering that a team needs 7 registered players to play 4v4s, I guess at least 12 players would be necessary for 8v8s every week?
EDIT: 8v8s would probably make it so that JPN and FR are even more unbeatable, because honestly no other country comes even close to having 12 first-class players (US being 3rd on the list, obviously). This is not necessarily a concern though.

To be fair it is fair to make wars 8v8, it really just shows overall strength of a country in my opinion, even if it does strengthen France and Japan.

8v8 also makes less arbitrary LUs...For USA and such. USA, FR, JPN, and ESP probably can easily 8v8. (It depends on how many people will be in USA, though)Rookie wrote:To be fair it is fair to make wars 8v8, it really just shows overall strength of a country in my opinion, even if it does strengthen France and Japan.
A new sign up board should probably be made for the sake of early organization (And snipping, if needed)

The real problem is: how many countries can actually play 8vs8s at all?

I'd imagine USA/JPN/FRA/ESP can all definitely 8v8, UK probably can, possibly benelux (if they're recombining? I'm not really sure on their situation). I'm not really sure about ITA and CAN (or GER, since they don't seem to be playing)...

Probabably Germany can play the World Cup
4 on 4 - we can definitely play
8 on 8 - I have to check how many people we get for our team

I still think NE or Benelux can participate, but we have to see.
